Dima Bilan's new album in english is out. It's called Believe and it's rather good. Here is the goth-inspired cover that has absolutely nothing to do with what is mostly a RnB album. WTF Dima?
Brody looks good in her new video for "Baptized by Fire". The song itself sounds pretty good and is far from the punk that the Distillers were playing. Sunny Californian Rock at its best, up there with Queens of the Stone Age!!! If you like them, stay tuned for supergroup "Them Crooked Vultures" featuring Josh Homme and Dave Grohl. Promising!!!
It's been around for a while but I never came across it. Zhasmin looks cute in it. It's called "Bol"
This other one is called "Nochy" and is much more recent, 2009 I reckon. Is there another album in the works? I sure hope so. Zhasmin has been pretty prolific before and her last album was released in 2005... These two tracks were never released on a CD before and they are good.
She was a winner of the russian Fame Academy, she is from Ukraine and her voice is incredible. She sounds like no one else and sings pop like the traditional ukrainian singers sing their folk!
She represented Russia in this year's Eurovision contest and I absolutely love her music.
yeah it's been a while since I posted...anything really! But I kinda want to pay tribute to my favourite russian singer whose carrier is on hold at the moment (or is it not?) Well, any of you can now enjoy this wonderful, nature oriented, video for Alsou's first single out of her tatar language album "Tugan Tel".
*I barely have time to think and there's all this great music coming out* Brody Dalle is back with a new band Spinnerette (sounding a lot like her old band the Distillers) and she's got a video for her "ghetto love" track. The music sounds fricking good, I can't wait for the rest...
I came across Miss Platnum on french TV totally by mistake and I love her. She is curvacious and sassy! She is also Romanian and she mixes hip-hop, RnB and tzigan folk. Sounds good? It's great, funny and oh-so entertaining you'll listen to her album "Chefa" for days. Try it you'll adopt Miss Platnum!
Yes! They have released it! SEREBRO the über russian girl group powered by the producer Maxim Fadeev (a music genius) have released their album. It is called Opiumroz and features tracks like "Opium", "Dirty Kiss", "Song #1" (from Eurovision back in 2007) and a number of previously unreleased tracks that are well worth the wait. The album is brilliant pop and could give international stars a run for their money if it was to be released worldwide. Could be huge!!! In short, WE LIKE!!!!!!!!!
I mildly like the new Alesha Dixon song "The boy does nothing". It is finally a success for my favourite Mis-Teeq (actually, when Mis-Teeq was still a band I didn't really have a favourite). You can't spend your afternoon in a public place without hearing it at least once an hour. A great song to shake your booty that is... Mind you it's an almost impossible thing to do when you're waiting for a doctor's appointment. Slightly move my feet was the best I could do anyway!
What I wanted to say is I much preferred her earlier work. Her previous album was never released and the song "Knock Down" was really great. It features the lyrics "Woowoowoowoowoh", "Ohohohohohoho" and "Ahahahahahaha". Brilliant! The dance routines were superb too and none of this average mambo sh***t."Lipstick" wasn't bad either. I guess her genius had to be taken down a notch for the general public. Shame that!
I can prove my point... now!
Here is "Knock Down" followed by "Lipstick". [the future is really amazing]
This is Gaga in full soft-porn/weirdness mode. I can't say what confuses me the most about this video but what I know is that when Lady Gaga puts her sequinned pants on top of her tights, she means business. And this video IS busy: too much makeup, too many hair extensions, too many outrageous outfits, too many pouty dancers, too many dance moves rescued from the 80's, too much, too much, too much. But I wouldn't expect anything else from the newly crowned princess of pop. Bring it on Gaga and don't skip on the nasty!!!
Performance from the french boys rock band BB Brunes at the french music awards.
The singer even winks at the band Naast (their archenemy in the rocknroll world) who seem to have disappeared from the face of the earth when their lead singer stuck a fork in the eye of one of his rivals. Ouch, that's gotta hurt!
This is the new Britney video. I'm not quite sure what message she wants to send with it or if there even is a message. Anywho, it's Briney so I love it! I mean, who doesn't?
This is a contest where people could submit their pictures featuring Russia. i would have submitted one if I found this site before. Maybe next year... Meanwhile, you can check all these beautiful pictures there:
I have created a new website to share my short stories with the world. They are mostly about Russia and I already posted some on this blog. They will mainly be in French but if you guys ask me nicely I may translate some of them in english (or even russian but that will need some help from my better-half) Anyway, visit: nouvelles de Russie and don't hesitate to comment. I will try to update the site regurlarly, that will motivate me to write hopefully!!! And, I'm going to Moscow in february so that'll inspire a lot of new stories (fingers crossed). PS: don't forget, visit: nouvelles de Russie Da svidania.
I came across this video on VIPmedia and i couldn't help but share it too. First because Lady Gaga sounds pretty amazing live and second because of the weirdness of it all. From Lady herself looking like she forgot to put on half of her outfit to her dancers coming back from the future straight from the eighties and i'm not even talking about the dance routines!!!. Overall, it doesn't really matter ... because the girl can sing and she dances so cutely on the chorus that i can't stay mad at her (not that i was in the first place). Seriously, this is totally the way i dance on this song in my kitchen when i put it on!!!!!
"Just Dance!!!!" on Jay Leno
and just because i never posted it on my blog (big mistake), here is the "Just Dance video":
and also "Poker face", the new single:
i am strangely confused by this blue swimsuit though...
get stick thin (well, when i say "stick" i mean the good old stick not the twig, the kind of stick you'd need to knock Beyoncé unconscious, quite a big stick then)
The Metric lead singer lets it all out in a video posted on the band's website. She talks about her moving to Buenos Aires, her writer's block and the upcoming Metric album. A sneak preview of a song called "Help I'm Alive" makes me want the album already.
Sounds f***ing good!
Metric is back... and currently on tour in Canada. Maybe soon in France, who knows?
You can listen to "Help I'm alive" on the band's myspace.
Here is yet another video by wonderful band Serebro. I like a lot but the album has been delayed enough. Enough with the waiting!!! I can't take it anymore. Release it!
Meanwhile, you can enjoy the video for "Skazhi ne Molchi":
Kiley is currently on tour ... with Madonna. She is a backup singer I think and she's blogging about it. Check out her newly re-designed website: http://www.kileydean.com/ .
I'm happy for her and hope she can release an album real soon because her "Simple Girl" album was amazing. I can't wait for some new music.
... is called Ranetki - myspace - (or Ranetki Girls as they call themselves for their international fans). It is a pop-rock girl band that achieved worldwide notoriety by being featured in the video game Grand Theft Auto IV. A great achievement but will it help them to have an international career, only time will tell.
Meanwhile, here is their already famous among gamers "O tebe":
And another song "Ona Odna":
Did you notice that the lead singer is the drummer of the band, this is so cool!!!
